1.      University of the Philippines – Diliman
  • The University of the Philippines Diliman (commonly referred to as UP Diliman, or informally, Peyups), is a coeducational and public research university located in Quezon City, Philippines. It is the flagship campus, seat of administration, and the fourth oldest constituent university of the University of the Philippines System, the national university of the Philippines.
  •  Delegated in 1939 as the new campus of the University of the Philippines centered in Manila, the Diliman campus was created from the 493-hectare area of the Diliman district of the then newly established Quezon City to address the increasing population of the university and to acknowledge the demands to expand its roster of academic programs. The outbreak of World War II hampered the development of the area.

2.       University of the Philippines - Los Banos

  •   The University of the Philippines Los Baños (also referred to as UPLB, UP Los Baños, and Elbi) is a public university located in the towns of Los Baños and Bay in the province of Laguna, some 64 kilometers southeast of Manila. It traces its roots to the UP College of Agriculture (UPCA), which was founded in 1909 by the American colonial government to promote agricultural education and research in the Philippines. American botanist Edwin Copeland served as its first dean. UPLB was formally established in 1972 following the union of UPCA with four other Los Baños and Diliman-based University of the Philippines (UP) units.

3.      University of the Philippines – Manila

  •  The University of the Philippines Manila (usually referred to as U.P. Manila), founded in 1908, is a coeducational and public research university in the Philippines. It is located in the city of Manila, the country's capital. It is the oldest of the seven (7) constituent universities of the University of the Philippines System. Its oldest degree-granting unit is the College of Medicine, which was founded in 1905 as the Philippine Medical School, predating the founding of U.P. by three years.
  •  It is the center of health sciences education in the country, with the establishment of the National Health Sciences Center. It is also a reputable research center in the health sciences in the Asia-Pacific rim. It exercises administrative supervision over the Philippine General Hospital (the largest medical center and the national referral center for health in the Philippines), National Institutes of Health, Ugnayan ng Pahinungod, and Continuing Education. U.P. Manila is a reputable school of tertiary learning in the health sciences, and more high school students interested in this field apply to it than any other college or university in the country.

4.      Siliman University in Dumaguete

  •  Silliman University (also referred to as Silliman or SU) is a private research university in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, and Philippines. Established in 1901 as Silliman Institute by the Presbyterian Board of Foreign Missions, it is the first American university in the Philippines and the entire Asian continent. The university is named after Dr. Horace Brinsmade Silliman, a retired businessman and philanthropist from Cohoes, New York who gave the initial sum of $10,000 to start the school. Starting as an elementary school for boys, the school expanded to become a college in 1910, acquiring university status in 1938. For the first half of the 20th century, Silliman was run and operated by Americans. After the Second World War Filipinos began to assume more important positions, culminating in the appointment of Silliman's first Filipino president in 1952.

5.      Ateneo de Davao University in Davao City

  •  The Ateneo de Davao University is a private teaching, service and research university run by the Society of Jesus in Davao City in the Philippines. It is also known by the acronym AdDU. It was established in 1948, and is the seventh Ateneo opened by the Jesuits in the Philippines. The university has five undergraduate schools, namely the School of Arts and Sciences, School of Business and Governance, School of Engineering and Architecture, School of Education and the School of Nursing. The graduate programs are under these units as well. The College of Law is a separate unit within the university. The university also runs a grade school and high school.

6.      Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City

  • The Ateneo de Manila University also referred to as "Ateneo de Manila" or simply "Ateneo") is a Catholic private teaching and research university run by the Society of Jesus in the Philippines. It is also known by the acronym AdMU. It is the oldest Jesuit school in the Philippines named Ateneo and the third-oldest university in the Philippines, tracing its roots to 1859 when the City of Manila handed control of the Escuela Municipal de Manila in Intramuros, Manila, to the Jesuits. It remained a state-subsidized institution through the Spanish colonial period, offering primary, secondary and bachillerato education. It was privatized during the American occupation of the Philippines in the first half of the 20th century. Ateneo awarded its first postgraduate degrees in 1949, and received its university charter in 1959.

7.      University of Sto. Tomas in Manila

  •   The Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas, The Catholic University of the Philippines is a private, Roman Catholic, teaching and Research University run by the Order of Preachers in Manila. Founded on 28 April 1611 by archbishop of Manila Miguel de Benavides, it has the oldest extant university charter in the Philippines and in Asia and is one of the world's largest Catholic universities in terms of enrollment found on one campus. UST is also the largest university in the city of Manila. As the only Pontifical University in Asia, UST is the only university to have been visited by two popes three times: once by Pope Paul VI on Nov. 28, 1970, and twice by Pope John Paul II on Feb. 18, 1981 and January 13, 1995.

8.      Mindanao State University (Iligan Institute of Technology) in Iligan City


  • The Iligan Institute of Technology of the Mindanao State University (commonly referred to as MSU-IIT or IIT) is a public coeducational institution of higher learning and Research University located in Iligan City, Philippines, charted in 1968 by Republic Act 5363 and integrated as the first autonomous unit of the Mindanao State University System in 1975.
  •   MSU-IIT offers programs in secondary, undergraduate, and postgraduate level education.

9.      Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila

  •   Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM), or the University of the City of Manila, is a municipal government-funded, tuition-free university within the district of Intramuros in Manila, the Philippines. It was established on June 19, 1965 and opened on July 17, 1967 to 556 scholars, all coming from the top ten percent of graduates of Manila's public high schools.
  •   PLM holds the distinction of being: the first tertiary-level institution in the country to offer tuition-free education; the first university funded solely by a city government; and the first institution of higher learning in the country to have its official name in Filipino.

10.  Saint Louis University in Baguio City

  •   Saint Louis University (abbreviated as SLU and colloquially called eSLU) is a private teaching university in Baguio, Philippines, approximately 250 km north of Manila. The school was established in 1911 by the Congregatio Immaculati Cordis Mariae missionaries, to further Christianize the northern Philippines. SLU is one of the largest universities north of Manila with 30, 274 university students from many backgrounds (not counting the elementary and high school) as of school year 2013-2014. It is centrally situated in a six-hectare campus in the heart of Baguio City and has more than 30 buildings.
  •   The university offers a full array of programs at the elementary, secondary, undergraduate and graduate levels. The university comprises nine schools or colleges with campuses throughout the Baguio metropolitan area. SLU's main campus is on A Bonifacio Street where the seven schools are housed while the Maryheights Academic Campus houses the School of Accountancy and Business Management and the Navy Base Campus the School of Teacher Education.
